Report of the EVDI Conference 2010
Ruth Dennis

The annual European Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging Conference was held in the historic university town of Giessen, Germany, at the end of July 2010. As usual, it proved to be the scientific and social highlight of the veterinary diagnostic imaging year, attracting 200 registrants from 29 countries. This conference was the 16th for EAVDI, but in recent years has been re-named the ‘EVDI’ Conference to reflect the fact that it is also the annual scientific meeting of ECVDI. The organising committee of Martin Kramer, Antje Wigger, Kerstin Amort, Patrick Kircher and Nuria Corzo-Menéndez and their helpers produced a conference with an excellent mix of high-quality scientific presentations and a full and enjoyable social programme. This allowed participants to meet old friends, make new ones, relax and learn at the same time.
The main conference was preceded by a day of seminars held at the impressive veterinary campus of the Justus-Liebig-University of Giessen. Five seminars (CT of the thorax, MRI of the brain, MRI of the spine, equine distal limb and ultrasonography) were given by internationally-known speakers and attended by over 100 participants. The following morning the annual ECVDI Residents’ Course was attended by 18 residents and consisted of lectures on the theme of contrast studies in diagnostic imaging followed by interactive film reading. These seminars all underline the important role of the EVDI Conference in providing high-quality CPD in our discipline.
